Who I Am

As a PhD-level scientist, I am trained to distill complex variables into sensible and intuitive outputs. In other words, life is hard and complicated. We all have too many things going on and not enough time to do it. What I excel at is taking what life throws at you, in all of its glorious complications, and making it easy for you to visualize the actions you can take to accomplish your goals. Education is a powerful tool, in any form. My passion in life is to help educate YOU. Let’s get started!

Career & Academic Coach

My name is Dan and I have been working in microbiology labs or for labs since I was in high school. I have an intense passion for microbiology, life sciences, and sales. I enjoy helping people achieve their goals of continuing to work with their passions in life sciences. This industry and our devotion to it is immensely important to global health and pushing the envelope of human knowledge. Finding our place within this puzzle isn’t always easy but is something that I know we can find if we work towards it with our goals, and our core values, proudly displayed on our sleeves. I particularly like working with people transitioning from academia to industry. Removing ourselves from the job campaign mentality and seeing it from the interviewer and decision maker’s perspectives helps us to get a handle on how we can approach these tough times. I’m originally from Canada by way of Ohio and love hockey! I help my customers overcome contamination events, identify  and put in place systems to help prevent those events in the future.

I’ve recruited in the life sciences for a little over 3 years, primarily supporting positions based out of both Maryland and North Carolina. In the past, I’ve placed candidates into roles ranging from entry-level Lab Technicians up to Director level opportunities. Most of my experience is in supporting the manufacture or development of biopharma products but I frequently partner with CROs, Medical Device and AgBio companies as well. I relocated to the area 8 months ago to start Piper’s Companies Clinical Research division and currently lead a team of 10 recruiters based here in the RTP.

Piper Clinical Solutions is a niche human capital solutions and consulting firm specializing in recruitment and contracting services covering a wide range of clinical, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and R&D skill sets.
